FINAL "COMMUNITY" PRINTS

Printed the remaining limited edition prints in the "COMMUNITY" edition a couple weeks ago (sometimes, since it's just the two of us, we print big runs in a couple batches).

"COMMUNITY" is printed from 4 hand-drawn, hand-carved woodblocks. Here, Paul is pulling up the finished print on paper from the black (key) woodblock after a final run through the press.

The limited edition is now printed in full! Prints are available online, signed, dry & ready to ship!

"COMMUNITY" is a 16" x 20" color woodcut; order original prints here!

MAKING COLOR BLOCKS

We've rolled the 1st ink onto the "OVERLOOK"  key block. This first inking was done to create the 4 color blocks (now drying & soon ready to start drawing in!) Printing the edition waits until all of the color blocks are drawn & carved in full. Stay tuned for more on this process as it develops!

MAKING A RUBBING

Before rolling ink a carved block, we usually sneak in a quick rubbing to see how the carving went. Pictured here is the "OVERLOOK" key. It's so neat to see the carving appear on paper as a drawing once again!

LAST TO PRESS

Printing the final run, the key block, on the golden "MOTH" print. This paper has been really neat to print on, very thin & translucent, fluttery like insect wings, but STRONG! In the top photo you can see the ink coming through a bit. Next shows the pulling up of the paper from the inked block after a run through the press. And, last photo, the block & the finished print. Photo of the print all done? HERE!
