FINE-TUNING "OVERLOOK" COLOR
We're going back through all of the "OVERLOOK" color blocks in preparation for first color proofing! We'll print a handful of copies during the proofing process, slowly fine-tuning color on each of the 5 blocks and carving the last block details, before we arrive at a finished 1st color proof. The 1st color proof will be a guide for how we mix & print during production. The full edition size of "OVERLOOK" will be 100 limited edition prints. We are planning to unveil the 1st color proof on Friday, August 21st, 2015 in the T.B.P.S. newsletter. Join up by entering your e-mail at www.tugboatprintshop.com and be the first to see & hear the latest details about the big "OVERLOOK" woodcut landscape!

TUGBOAT PRINTSHOP @ CURE
Many thanks to Cure for hosting us & our woodcut prints for a MADE FROM SCRATCH holiday reception in Lawrenceville this past Sunday, Dec. 15. We took a few photos of the dining room, cozy & aglow, before the doors opened to guests. Thanks to all that stopped by to see us!

FLASHBACK: "MOON" MAKING!
This time last year, we were hard at work on "THE MOON" woodcut and *wow* was it ever a project! We spent many a night & day hunkered over these big blocks drawing & carving. And we loved every minute of it. We learned all of the oceans and seas, we thought long and hard about the space-battered surface of crater wells & dusty dunes. Hours and hours of drawing and dreaming about the moon. What a marvel it is!
We continue to find photos that we took to document the making of the print (as above, turning the jigsawed moon shape into place in the sky with a screwdriver)! Root through all of our photos up online in this PHOTO SET.
Prints are still available from the limited edition, but no telling for how long. Gift or get your very own 'MOON' & stars HERE.

ANOTHER NEW ONE!
We're starting on a new series/time period in our woodcut history. We're calling this one BRAVE NEW WORLD. This period probably started around the time that we made the "FARM BARGE" print and has continued to include "THE FOUR ELEMENTS SET" and "THE MOON" as well. Now we're working through a couple of new big woodcuts (including the above, title TBA, the block of which is slightly taller than the 35.5" 'Moon' print). Actually, we kinda have this huge mass of ideas we can't wait to make happen…so it's back to work for us! Stay tuned for so much more this year. And please feel free to share with others!

THE FARM BARGE
Sloping green-tinted waves push the great red "FARM BARGE" across the rolling sea. A daydream invention, the "FARM BARGE" idealizes resourcefulness.
"FARM BARGE" is printed from 4 woodblocks (yellow, red, blue, and black) onto Ivory White Somerset paper. Paper size is a standard 16" x 20". Edition size of 100 prints. Pre-order intro rate still available for a limited time HERE and in our ETSY.

GARDEN PRINT BLOCKS
We always find it interesting to see how our blocks look after printing. When drawing the images on wood, the ink seems to go down in layers, crisp & sharp as the pens that drew it (and, later, as the knives that carve it out). Sometimes we use different colored markers to denote different areas. But once the blocks are rolled up with ink, all of those marks & tonations merge into one big colorful shape. It always amazes us how precise it is! The rollers deposit ink on carved surfaces that don't print, too. Compare, if you'd like! Here too!
