"OVERLOOK" SKY FINISHING

We transferred the sky drawing/carving from our 1st "OVERLOOK" blue block to the 2nd "OVERLOOK" blue block and then drew in some more sky details. The overall effect will (probably) compare to the sky in the "DESERT ISLAND" woodcut but with all mid-day blue tones.

(Carving is almost done, too! Forgive us for being behind in posting & documenting a bit...we're about to bring another tugboateer into our little Pittsburgh family! Baby 2 any day!)

Prints all of the white-tinted flower petals & dots in the centers.

DRAWING "OVERLOOK"

It's been a long process, 2 whole years in the making! And the "OVERLOOK" drawing is now complete! Well, we still have some photos to take to really show you how the block wrapped up...but here's a sneak peek of the last few days spent penning in fields, mountains and trees, trees, trees.

NEW! "COMMUNITY" WOODCUT

It's done! The "COMMUNITY" woodcut is now complete in full color! Print size is 16" x 20" on Ivory Somerset Paper. Printed from 4 hand-drawn, hand-carved blocks. More info & order a copy HERE! 

"COMMUNITY" PRE-ORDER!

There's a new pre-order in our online shop! The "COMMUNITY", currently in production here at Tugboat Printshop, will be a full color print, final size 16" x 20". Hard to describe our color plans at this point in time, but if you like what we did with "FARM BARGE" and "GARDEN" and "FOREST" and "BONFIRE", then we think you'll be in for a special treat!

Pictured above is the key block for "COMMUNITY". The key block is the detail block that prints last atop all of the printed color blocks. Be in touch if you have any questions - more soon!

"TREE SWING" WOODBLOCK PRINT

The "DESERT ISLAND" color blocks continue to progress (updates really, really soon!), and alongside those big blocks we've been handing back & forth some other stuff (woodblocks) too!

As you may know, Tugboat Printshop is just the two of us, husband and wife, Paul and Valerie, collaborating to make artwork, usually woodcut prints. Every aspect of the making of our prints is done, start to finish, by the two of us working together.  We work on many blocks at a time, handing everything back and forth lots of times. Projects are always happening simultaneously.

In any event, we guess we're trying to let you know that there is a whole lot to anticipate here at Tugboat Printshop this Fall! We've been working like crazy and there is lots of new, lots to come! You should really stay tuned.

For the present, here's a peek at the tiniest of the batch of blocks we have in the works, a wee little image that we will probably be titled "TREE SWING". Coming soon to OUR SHOP!
