We have finished all of the color blocks for the "MAMA BEAR" woodcut (just a few ticks and tocks left on the red & detail lichen block)! All blocks above will print with this key block. And the finished 20" x 16" print will debut in our ONLINE SHOP tomorrow!!! SPRINGTIME!

Greatly enjoy Springtime in Pittsburgh! Tromping through the neighborhood watching the natural world reawaken, sitting outside drawing on blocks of wood each sunny afternoon ~ so wonderful! Above, see the drawing of the the lichen & moss patch (under the leaping bears) in new "MAMA BEAR" print? Like a delicate lace. And the "GARDEN" woodcut color blocks are almost drawn in, too! Soon, pictures!

MAMA BEAR WOODCUT!

It was such a sunny day today in Pittsburgh! Had to take a long afternoon stroll in the golden light. And now back to work on "MAMA BEAR" (and "GARDEN" ~ final color blocks being drawn in as we speak)! A couple photos of the carving of the key bear block above and some much earlier shots of the development of this print here. Sort of flying along now and we expect to have a proof to show you in the coming week! And it will be in color!

WOODCUTS IN PROGRESS!

We've had many chances to crawl back into our favorite place lately ~ the studio! The drizzly days of early Fall make the impulse to cozy up to a block of wood with a cup of coffee and some moody jams simply inescapable! Above are some progress pics of our latest 2 woodcuts in the works...

BEARS, GARDENS, OH MY!

As many of you may know from our most recent newsletter, life has been a-changin' around Tugboat Printshop! With our first little one well on the way, we've been undergoing some overdue updates to our in-house space…which has displaced most of our printshop activities for the bulk of the past 2 months or so making it pretty challenging to find little nooks to set up amidst the clang and the bang to draw and carve.

With great relief, we are back in full swing in our space again this week! Expect to see more updates, more photos and some finished prints wrapping up shortly! Oh geez we can't even begin to communicate how exciting this feels!
